Harith Ahmad 🏛︎︎University of Malaya, Malaysia Prof. Harith Ahmad Bio: Professor Harith Bin Ahmad is a Distinguished Professor at the Photonics Research Centre, Universiti Malaya, and one of Malaysia's foremost pioneers in photonics, fibre optics, and laser technology. He holds a Diploma in Science from UiTM, a First Class Honours degree in Physics from Universiti Malaya, and an M.Sc. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Laser and Fibre Optic Technology from the University of Wales, UK. In 2014, he received the Anugerah Profesor Ulung Negara, Malaysia's highest academic distinction, as the sole recipient that year. His research spans optical amplifiers, planar lightwave circuits, fibre lasers, fibre optic sensors, optical communications, and integrated photonics. He has authored more than 1,300 journal publications with over 18,600 citations and an H-index of 56, secured over RM43 million in research grants, and supervised 92 PhD and 70 Master's graduates. Having joined Universiti Malaya in 1980, he has provided sustained academic leadership, including as Director and Executive Director of the Photonics Research Centre, which was recognised as a Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HiCOE) in 2014.
